Industrial tapes are used for adhesive bonding, thread sealing, masking, packaging, wrapping, electrical insulation, and other specialized applications.
Adhesive tapes are used to assemble materials or parts together using a sticky chemical bond. Adhesive tapes are made by coating a backing or carrier (paper, plastic film, cloth, foam or foil) with an adhesive on a web or roll coater.
Cable and electrical tapes are a variety of pressure-adhering adhesive tape specifically designed to wrap, shield, mask, mark, or insulate types of electrical cables, wiring harnesses, electric components, or circuit boards. Electric tapes come in many colors and materials, but black, vinyl tape has become the consumer standard.
Cloth tapes provide robustness with the incorporation of a fabric or fiber carrier, such as cotton, scrim, glass, fiberglass, or polyester. They are adaptable to a variety of substrates and conditions, as substantiated by the most common type of cloth tapes—duct tape.
Double sided tapes are coated with adhesive on both sides of the backing or carrier. Transfer tapes consist of a thin adhesive film without a carrier or backing.
Foam bonding tapes are specialized tapes designed for adhesive joining of foam materials.
Foam tapes have a foam carrier, which can provide conformability and cushioning features.
Foil tapes utilize a metal-film carrier to enhance thermal/electrical conductivity, abrasion resistance, and EMI/RFI shielding, while retaining the physical properties typical of adhesive tape. Metal carriers also allow an aggressive adhesive to be applied, which are occasionally laced with conductive granules like silver or graphite.
Industrial tapes are used for adhesive bonding, thread sealing, masking, packaging, wrapping, electrical insulation, ESD control and other specialized applications.
Masking tape is a pressure-sensitive, adhesive tape used to shield surfaces from a nearby finishing process, such as painting, soldering, blasting, or plating. Masking tapes are rated by their tensile strength and adhesion bond, and come in a selection of materials that increase their versatility.
Strapping and filament tapes are strengthened with many woven filaments yarns embedded in the adhesive on the tape’s backing.
