IndustryPack®       IndustryPack® (IP) is a mezzanine bus used to provide I/O capabilities to general-purpose computer systems. IndustryPack is a registered trademark of GreenSpring Computers, which maintains the specification. Other manufacturers have adopted the IndustryPack standard.
PMC       Peripheral Mezzanine Card (PMC) has logical and electrical standards based on PCI specifications. PMC uses a common mezzanine card (CMC) form factor of 3” by 5”.
PC-MIP®       Peripheral Component Mezzanine IndustryPack® (PC-MIP®) is a mezzanine module largely based on PCI standards, but smaller and denser than PMC modules. PC-MIP is a registered trademark of SBS Technologies, Inc.
M       Mezzanine (M) cards are designed for use in rugged industrial applications. The M-module specifications are known as ANSI/VITA 12-1996.
PCMCIA       Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) carriers plug into a 68-pin host socket that is connected either to the motherboard or an expansion bus. An adapter translates PCMCIA signals into a format that the computer’s bus can use. On a standard bus, PCMCIA adapters take the place of a COM port.
ETX       Embedded Technology eXtended (ETX) is a form factor for developing embedded systems that eliminate cables and connectors to allow for easier design. The ETX-PC has a small footprint of 114 mm by 95 mm and a maximum thickness of 12 mm. ETX was developed by JUMPtec® industrielle Computertechnik AG.

PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) is a superset of CompactPCI that adds timing and triggering functions, imposes requirements for documenting environmental tests, and establishes a standard Windows®-based software framework. Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft.
6U PXI       6U PXI has a form factor of 233 mm by 160 mm and a bus width of 64 bits. PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) is a superset of CompactPCI that adds timing and triggering functions, imposes requirements for documenting environmental tests, and establishes a standard Windows®-based software framework. Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft.
VME Size-B (6U x 160 mm)       VME Size-B (6U x 160 mm) has a form factor of 233 mm by 160 mm. VersaModule Eurocard (VME) is a 32-bit bus used in industrial, commercial and military applications. VME64 is an expanded version that provides 64-bit data transfers and addressing.
VME Size-C (6U x 340 mm)       VME Size-C (6U x 340) has a form factor of 233 mm by 340 mm. VersaModule Eurocard (VME) is a 32-bit bus used in industrial, commercial and military applications. VME64 is an expanded version that provides 64-bit data transfers and addressing.
VXI Size-B (6U x 160 mm)       VXI Size-B (6U x 160 mm) has a form factor of 233 mm by 160 mm. VME eXtensions for Instrumentation (VXI) is a standard that defines electrical and mechanical backplane characteristics.
VXI Size-C (6U x 340 mm)       VXI Size-C (6U x 340 mm) has a form factor of 233 mm by 340 mm. VME eXtensions for Instrumentation (VXI) is a standard that defines electrical and mechanical backplane characteristics.
ISA/EISA - Full Size       Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) is a standard I/O bus that can handle 16-bit data transfers at a clock speed of 8 MHz and memory under 16 MB. Extended ISA (EISA) is an improved version of the ISA bus. EISA runs at 8 MHz, is capable of 32-bit data transfers, and can access all memory in the system.
ISA/EISA - Small Form Factor       Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) is a standard I/O bus that can handle 16-bit data transfers at a clock speed of 8 MHz, and memory under 16 MB. Extended ISA (EISA) is an improved version of the ISA bus. EISA runs at 8 MHz, is capable of 32-bit data transfers, and can access all memory in the system.
PCI - Full Size       Full size PCI transfers 32 or 64 bits of data at a clock speed of 33 MHz. Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) supports three to five critical peripherals, which are either integrated directly onto the motherboard or added via expansion cards. The PCI bus fully supports cards developed for standard I/O buses.
PCI - Small Form Factor       Small Form Factor (SFF) PCI is a smaller version of the full size 32-bit PCI bus. Typically, 32-bit SFF PCI is used in smaller mechanical packages. Due to size considerations, a 64-bit SFF PCI is not implemented. Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) supports three to five critical peripherals, which are either integrated directly onto the motherboard or added via expansion cards. The PCI bus fully supports cards developed for standard I/O buses.
PC/104 (PC/104Plus, EBX, ETX)       PC/104 gets its name from the term “personal computer” (PC) and from the number of pins used to connect cards together (104). PC/104 cards are much smaller than ISA bus cards and stack together, eliminating the need for a motherboard, back plane, and/or card cage. PC/104-Plus incorporates the PCI bus into the PC/104 form factor for faster data transfers. Embedded Board eXpandable (EBX) defines a 5.75" x 8" form factor that is large enough to implement a powerful single-board computer. EBX also supports PC/104 expansion. Embedded Technology eXtended (EXT) is a form factor for developing embedded systems that eliminate connectors and cables to allow for easier design. The ETX-PC has a small footprint of 114 mm x 95 mm and a maximum thickness of 12 mm.
STD 32       STD 32 was originally designed for factory and industrial environments and is often referred to as the "blue collar bus" because of its rugged design and small size. This 32-bit bus is manufactured by a number of suppliers.
