Digital ram stroke control and LED ram position display allows precision straightening. An extreme example is this 750 ton C-frame straightening press with Savage added power barfeed for auto loading 30 ft. long shafts. This 500 ton straight-side press features an alloy steel bed cover plate, a shelf for die loading, and multiple pressing speeds. A Kevlar bellows guards the rod from shrapnel, and a sliding door with ballistics-rated Lexan ensures operator safety.

For straightening large diameter but short, stubby shafts, Savage offers the H- Frame Straightening Presses. Lift cylinders raise the anvils for shimming underneath, allowing quick adjustment for multiple diameters along the shaft. Live centers are provided to transmit rotation to center drilled shafts. Power height adjustment locates shaft centers quickly.The work is rotated to indicate and identify the high spot. The travel head cylinder is then brought over the high spot to straighten. Ram stroke control to .001″ stopping accuracy allows high tolerance control over the straightening process.This press was purchased by a mining equipment company and set-up by Savage at a new location in Tianjin, China.
