   Boring Tool       Boring tool holders are used to hold interchangeable boring heads or boring bars to perform hole-making tasks using replaceable insert cutters. 
   Collet Chuck       Collet chucks use collapsible spring collets of various types and sizes to hold cutting tools of different shank sizes with one tool holder.  The collet and cutting tool assembly is secured in the toolbar with a collet nut, tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. 
   Drawbar Type       Drawbar type collet chuck tool holders use an internal drawbar to pull the collet into the pocket to secure the collet and cutting tool. 
   Drill Chuck       Drill chucks use mechanical jaws to hold cutting tools of different shank sizes.  Drill chucks are used where machining accuracy is not critical. 
   End Mill Holder       End mill holders feature a bore I/D. sized to hold cutting tools of specific shank sizes.  Side screws secure the cutting tool in the bore. 
   Face Mill / Shell Mill / Stub Arbor       Arbor tool holders secure face mill type arbors on a shaft secured with one nut or multiple screws to perform milling operations using replaceable cutting inserts. 
   Hydraulic       Hydraulic too holders use a powerful hydraulic bladder to secure the cutting tool in the bore 
   Milling Chuck       Milling chucks apply a powerful mechanical clamping force on the shank of the cutting tool to provide holding power and rigidity that approaches shrink fit.  Cutting tools of different shank sizes can be used by using precision sleeves to adjust the usable bore I.D. 
   OD / ID Tool Holder       OD / ID tool holders are static tooling that are used for creating internal and/or external threads on parts, screws, and nuts. 
   Shrink Fit       Shrink fit tool holders feature a bore I/D. sized to fit cutting tools of specific shank sizes and hold them with maximum accuracy and rigidity.  A machine is used to apply heat to the nose of the tool, expanding the bore I.D. just enough so that the cutting tool can be inserted.  As the metal cools and the bore I.D. contracts, the cutting tool shank is held with the maximum holding power and rigidity achievable by replaceable tooling systems. 
   Tapping Chucks       Tapping chucks use special collets to hold taps to perform threading operations.  Some offer a tension-compression feature to prevent breaking taps. 
   Tool Holder Blank       Tool holder blanks come in various mounting styles to fit a variety of machine types.  They are machined by the operator to create custom tool holders needed for specific application requirements. 
   Other       Other unlisted, specialized or proprietary tool holder types.

   Machine Mount

   BMT (Base Mount)       Base mount tooling (BMT) is designed for mounting to a machine tool base. 
   BT       BT is similar to CAT, but is balanced and symmetrical around the axis of rotation. BT uses the same NMTB body-taper measurement notation, but has a metric pull-stud thread. 
   Capto®       Sandvik Coromant developed the Capto® style of modular quick-change tooling.  With Coromant Capto®, tools can easily be built together to form a large range of cutting tool combinations. 
   CAT®       Caterpillar® developed the CAT® mounting style to standardize the tooling for its machines. This mounting style is also called the V-flange. Designations such as CAT-40, CAT-50 and CAT-60 refer to the NMTB taper size. The pull stud has an imperial thread. Caterpillar and CAT are registered trademarks of Caterpillar. 
   Dual Contact       Dual contact tool holders make contact with both the face and spindle taper for greater rigidity. 
   HSK       Hollow shank tooling (HSK) is designed to increase grip as spindle speed increases. HSK tooling does not have a pull stud and is commonly used with HSM.  HSK tool holders are described by DIN standard 69893. 
   ISO       ISO tool holders have a tapered cone that mate with a taper in the end of the spindle nose.  ISO tool holders use a pull stud to hold them tightly against the taper.  ISO tool holders are described by DIN standard 69871. 
   MT       Morse taper (MT) is available in four common sizes: #1, #2, #3, and #4. Each size has a tapered fit for fast changes.  
   NMTB       National Machine Tool Builders (NMTB) defined the NMTB taper for all CNC milling machines. The standard is 3.5 in. per ft. NMTB is also known as NMT, NT, MM, and NMM. NMTB tooling can require a drawbar. 
   R8       R8 is used by a majority of Bridgeport machines manufactured after 1965. This taper is seldom used with today's high speed machining (HSM) equipment. 
   Straight Shank       Straight shank tooling is designed for tool or work holders with a straight shank. 
   VDI       VDI is quick-change tooling for rapid setup and tool changes. Designed according to DIN 69880, VDI tooling is available in both dovetail and straight-shank versions. 
   Other       Other specialized, unlisted or proprietary tool holder mounting types.
