GlobalSpec Alternative & Renewable Energy Online Trade Show and Event Draws More Than 2,500 Attendees

90 percent of engineering, technical and industrial professionals at GlobalSpec virtual event are decision makers

East Greenbush, NY (February 16, 2012) – The “Alternative & Renewable Energy” online trade show and event on February 8, 2012 hosted by GlobalSpec drew more than 2,500 participants, with 90 percent of attendees reporting they are decision makers within their organizations. The free virtual conference is now available on demand to give engineers and industrial professionals easy access to educational presentations and industry-leading supplier resources from the live-day event.

GlobalSpec’s “Alternative & Renewable Energy” event provided educational opportunities to learn about leading-edge technology and the latest in product introductions and enhancements across the four technology sectors that make up the alternative and renewable energy industry: solar power; wind, water and geothermal; fuel cells and hydrogen; and biomass and battery technologies. Not only did industrial professionals take advantage of great learning opportunities, but this online event also provided the audience the convenience of meeting with industrial suppliers right from their desktop without leaving the office or having to budget for travel expenses.

“Like all of our online events, the knowledge exchange at the Alternative & Renewable Energy event was tremendous with attendees viewing more than four thousand pieces of exhibitor and speaker content like white papers, technical articles and product demos,” said Donna Lewis, vice president of e-publishing and e-events for GlobalSpec. “We look forward to hosting another Alternative & Renewable Energy online event next year to deliver the same high-quality content and robust learning opportunities.”

Speakers and topics at the event included:

  • Process Automation for Alternative & Renewable Energy – This presentation covered process automation in alternative & renewable energy production, primarily solar, hydro-electric, bio-mass, bio-gas and waste. The presentation discussed the key drivers and trends as well as some of the challenges in running plants efficiently. Also covered were advances in technology that help tackle these challenges effectively while keeping operating costs under control.
Presented by Ravi Jethra, Industry Business Manager - Power & Energy, Endress+Hauser
  • Materials Magic for Clean Energy Technology – Specialty materials play key roles in solutions for clean energy technologies. High-performance materials – metals and ceramics – enable, among other key elements of a clean energy future, the development and production of more energy-dense electric vehicle batteries and more efficient motors, better wind-driven generators, and more efficient photovoltaic cells. This presentation covered the contributions that high-performance materials make to the continuous improvement of clean energy technologies.
Presented by Koshi Okamoto, Executive Director, Corporate Business Development, Hitachi Metals America, Ltd.
  • A Different Kind of Green: Turning Buildings into Better Performing Financial Assets with REC's – Everybody could use a little extra cash these days and Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) are one way to help reduce overhead, help pay the mortgage, or simply improve your bottom line.
Presented by Bruce Grulke, CEO, REConomics, LLC
  • Biodiesel: America’s Advanced Biofuel – Liquid fuels are essential for many aspects of society. The only alternative to unsustainable fossil fuels for heavy-duty transportation and mobile uses is biofuel. Biodiesel is America’s first advanced biofuel. Biodiesel can deliver significant economic and environmental benefits while displacing unsustainable fuels for society’s critical needs.
