Advanced Systems Design with Java, UML and MDA

Chapter 7: Internet System Design

Overview

This chapter describes the structure and components of internet systems, and the technologies and languages involved in internet system design, including XHTML, Javascript, JSP, Servlets and Flash. We describe an MDA-based design process for such systems, using UML and OCL for PIMs and PSMs of internet systems, and synthesis of implementation components from UML models. We discuss issues of usability, portability across browsers, and how to ensure that the W3C standards for accessibility are met.

An example of an online property search system is used as a running case study.
