Reviewing the baseline assessment of the de facto IT architecture
Determining potential responses to the shortcomings of the de facto IT architecture
Developing architectural models that represent those responses
Completing a series of templates that further detail the architectural models and show the integration and interdependences among them
The target architecture is presented across four dimensions, including an operations view, an information view, an applications view, and an information technology view (see Figure B.1).
These four views (or models) are tied together in this document to ensure that the department has a solid foundation on which to build as it evolves toward its vision for the future.
The four views of RITA can be thought of as being analogous to the detailed architectural blueprints and specifications for the subassemblies of a building. For example,
