Cyclopropane is another interesting case. It can form either a Type I or II hydrate. The type of hydrate formed depends on the temperature and pressure (Hafemann and Miller, 1969; Majid et al., 1969). Regardless of the type of hydrate formed, cyclopropane is of such a size that it enters only the large cages. This unusual behavior makes cyclopropane a transition component. Cyclopropane is the boundary between Type I (large cage only) and Type II (large cages only) formers.
