Chapter 6: Decisions about Individuals and Organizations

Overview

This chapter lists decisions made about individuals and organizations. Section 6.1 is about occupations and 6.2 about decisions for operating organizations. As listed in the Table of Contents, all articles are sequentially numbered and have the topic area titles on the right.

Section 6.1 lists topics in the following three areas.

  1. "Job Change" articles are about jumping from one job to another, or starting a new job after retirement.

  2. "Entrepreneurship" articles are about starting new businesses.

  3. "Turning" are stories about of people making up their minds about new courses at certain points in their lives.

    I have categorized articles about corporate management into the following four topics.

  4. "Operation" articles are about decisions the heads of organizations, e.g., corporate presidents, division managers, university professors, made to direct the course of organizations.

  5. "Investment" examples are about capital investments made to change corporate operations.

  6. "Resources" articles are about human resources the most important factor in determining the power of organizations.

  7. "Management" articles give some examples of managing organizations.

As in the previous chapter, articles in this one are written in the first person. Although the topics seem to be a collection of unrelated events, reading through the entire chapter will give insights into decisions about individuals and organizations that relate to production.
