What Business Really Wants from IT: A Collaborative Guide for Business Directors and CIOs

I read somewhere that: Of the 10 percent of managers who buy business books, only 2 percent get past Chapter 1 . So if you ve gotten this far well done. But of course now the real work starts. It was Dr Laurence Peter, source of the oft-quoted Peter Principle , who came up with a less well-known but equally important principle:
Sooner or later, everything degenerates into work.
But before the work starts, you have to do some serious thinking (which in itself is hard work). As Henry Ford said:
Thinking is difficult, that s why so few people do it.
I have put together a generic project plan for implementation of the three role model, but in my experience, each organization is different, comes from a different place, and is going to a different place: Their momentum, their direction, speed of doing business and their mass is unique. However there are some common areas of activity that can be implemented.
In general you will need to conduct the following activities; the order will generally follow the list below, but you can choose to do some of these things in parallel:
Impact analysis: if you are going to embark on this path, it is critical that you know why you are doing it, what will be affected and how you are going to get from here to there. Part of the impacts analysis is a benefits analysis.
