I have presented China in its many dimensions. This background knowledge helps in placing US-China relation in a proper perspective. To set the stage I will first address the position of the United States as the dominant world power. I will then discuss the basis of US-China relation, and this relation in the context of the power structure of nations in East Asia. Some people consider China a threat to the United States, but I will discuss possible advantages in considering China as a strategic partner, as former President Clinton suggested and current President Bush has come to realize.
