This book is a subset of two comprehensive review books from Kaplan AEC for the PE exam in civil engineering. Those books are Civil Engineering: License Review and Civil Engineering: Problems & Solutions, and together they cover the full range of civil engineering topics on the exam: structural, environmental, water resource, geotechnical, and transportation engineering. If you want a review of all the topics on the exam, we recommend that you purchase those two books.
Alternatively, if you already feel confident in most of the other topics on the exam, or want a focused reference for your library, this book allows you to concentrate on a narrower set of those topics. It includes a review of key concepts and equations, as well as practice problems with complete solutions.

The exam is organized into breadth and depth sections.
The morning breadth exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions covering the following five areas of civil engineering: environmental, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources. Each topic are is worth 20 percent of the exam questions. You will have four hours to complete the breadth exam.
