The Mathcad 2001i Handbook

Introduction

The subject of this book is the popular program Mathcad 2001i, by MathSoft. Mathcad 2001i helps solve various mathematical tasks and make high-level professional calculating reports.

While writing this book, I have tried to keep two goals in mind. First, I wanted to cover basic calculating and outline the user interface. I also wanted to do all of this while using a step-by-step method, going from simple to complicated, to give readers the chance to study Mathcad independently. Even if you have never solved mathematical tasks with this power computing system, you can learn its key features and tools from the information provided in this book. Secondly, I know from personal experience that a problem-oriented method can, at times, be very useful. So, if there is a particular task that you need solved, you can just go to the appropriate chapter and use this book as a reference to guide you through it. Though a short outline of math concepts and terms is given at the beginning of each section that deals with the solution to a certain problem, I also assume that readers have the basic mathematical knowledge.

Part I presents the basics of Mathcad and describes how to work in its math editor. Parts II and III look at some issues relating to practical mathematical tasks and provide examples with various listings. Part IV includes information on how to create professional reports in Mathcad and how to develop effective methods of working for advanced users.
