The Mathcad 2001i Handbook

This chapter is dedicated to a discussion of the various mathematical built-in functions provided by Mathcad. We'll cover both special functions (Bessel, Airy, and so on), and elementary functions (sine, exponential, hyperbolic), and those functions designed for certain, more specialized areas (for example, financial functions). Furthermore, we'll cover some other functions, rather simple yet quite useful in terms of programmatic implementation, such as the step function, delta functions, and so on.
Although most of the functions that will be covered in this chapter are calculated without using any special-purpose numerical methods, we have joined them together in a single chapter. This has been done in order to simplify the task of finding the description of the required function, if necessary. The list of special functions is classified into sections based on the mathematical principle of the function being discussed and/or its area of usage.
| Note | The simplest way to insert a new special function into the document is by using the Insert Function dialog, which you can open by clicking the f(x) button on the standard toolbar ( see the "First Acquaintance with Mathcad" section in Chapter 1). In this dialog the functions are classified into several groups, thus, it is not difficult to open the required one. When you select a specific group from the left list, the list of functions belonging to this group appears in the right part of the window.
