The first and third parts contain information similar to that in the fourth edition of SFPE's Preparing for The FPE P.E. Examination, henceforth referred to as the study guide, with updates and some additional information. The second part, which treats the technical subjects, has been greatly expanded and refined from the technical information in the study guide.
The first two parts of this manual are broken into divisions, and the divisions are broken into chapters. In the part on technical subjects, the chapters are further divided into numbered sections and subsections. The pages where parts, divisions, chapters and sections begin are listed in separate tables of contents for the Part II divisions.
