Sheet Metal Forming Processes and Die Design

This appendix offers the reader many reference to subjects related to the sheet metal forming processes, die design, and the die making trade that are not easily found on one place.
Sheet metal is thin, flat metal mass rolled from slab or ingot, and is typically provided in widths from 24 to 80 inches (600 to 2000 mm), and thicknesses between 0.05 inch and 0.250 inches (1.25 to 6.25 mm). Sheet metal can be supplied in cut-to-length pieces or rolled into large, heavy coils.
This group of ASTM standards covers sheets, coils, and strips for steel and non-ferrous metals used in various applications.
Table A3.1 gives a list of ASTM standards specification and a description of each. This table is simply to assist engineers, technicians, and other users of this book in finding the correct numbers.
