Small runs and short runs are common in modern business environments. Different strategies are needed to deal with these situations. Advance planning is essential. Special variables techniques were introduced which compensate for small samples sizes and short runs by using speical tables or mathematically transforming the statistics and charts. Attribute shrot run SPC methods were introduced that make process patterns more evident when small runs are produced. Demerit and scoring systems were introduced that extract more information from attribute data.
