Common Questions About Dock Lifts when fully loaded. What about velocity fuses?. Velocity fuses are small hydraulic valves that are screwed into the hydraulic cylinder ports. If a hydraulic line loses pressure, the fuse closes so the lift won 't come down until the line is repaired. Velocity fuses are very good devices for certain equipment.
