MEASUREMENT IN THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY

Eastern Instrument's Solids Flow Measurement products allow precise and accurate measurement and control of virtually all aspects of plastics manufacturing including the measurement of recycled plastics and pelletized and powdered additives. The proper measurement of your materials during every aspect of your process will greatly increase control of your process, while decreasing the overhead associated with production.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Reject/Reclaim Line

Using a CentriFlow® Meter for flow measurement on a reject or reclaim line allows better control or the process and ultimately, a reduction of the waste associated with the process. Often, surges in the amount of product sent through a reclaim line indicate a problem somewhere upstream in the process. Detecting these problems early keeps them from escalating into larger problems involving broken machinery or dragging on for weeks unnoticed, resulting in ballooning amounts of wasted product.

Compounding

The patented CentriFlow® technology is very useful for compounding applications where multiple products are either batched or continuously blended. A CentriFlow® Meter can be used to measure powdered base resins, while a CentriFeeder™ could control the flow of any masterbatch pelletized additives entering the extruder.

Recycling

The CentriFlow® is very useful for plastics recyclers as well, as the meter can accurately and efficiently measure the flow of flaked plastic both before and after it has been cleaned.

PRODUCT LINE

CentriFlow®

The CentriFlow® Type I Meter is a horizontally fed meter that can either allow the product stream to continue flowing in-line, or reverse the direction of flow. Depending on the installation, the meter can take up as little as 19 inches of vertical space.

CentriFeeder™

The CentriFeeder™ with Integrated Control Valve accurately measures and controls the flow of any dry, free-flowing solid. Through the use of a highly customizable touch screen HMI, a PID control loop is established that regulates the integrated control valve feeding our patented CentriFlow® Meter. The outcome is an easily maintained consistent flow that can, under some conditions, be controlled over a 100:1 range, for batching, ratio-control or for any application where a controlled flow is required.
