Airslide® Aeration Unit Package-Image

Airslide conveyor units have proven to be effective in handling a variety of fine, dry materials, such as cement, gypsum, soda ash, fly ash, dusts, barites, bentonite, hydrated lime, ground limestone, ground ores, alumina, alumina hydrate, catalysts, silica, phosphates, talc, detergent and soap powder, calcined magnesite, and more.

An Airslide Aeration Unit Package comprises standard FLSmidth 8-inch (200 mm) open-type Airslide conveyor units, with lengths of 5 and 10 feet (1.5 and 3 m), depending on the slope length of the conical storage area. Each package consists of three or six Airslide conveyor units, arranged in three- or six-spoke patterns. Three-spoke patterns are typically used with materials that have good fluidization characteristics, while six-spoke patterns provide maximum aeration for more challenging, fluidizable materials.

The slope angles should be no less than 45° from the horizontal, with silo diameters up to 21 feet (6.4 m). However, these units can be applied to other storage configurations. Materials should generally pass at least 40 percent through a 200 mesh screen.

Each unit is an 8-inch (200 mm) Airslide conveyor unit, with a 10-inch (250 mm) installation width. It is constructed of fabricated steel plate covered with a specially woven polyester fabric, capable of handling materials up to 350°F (175°C).

A clean, dry air source is required, with a minimum SCFM listed for each package. Pressure should be a minimum of 3-5 PSIG (.21-.35 Kg/cm2) at the aeration unit. Sutorbilt/Roots blower units offered by FLSmidth are a reliable and cost-effective source of air for the aeration packages.

When ordering specific packages, it is important to determine the slope length of the silo hopper within the limitations mentioned above. Airslide aeration units should be sized to run no less than half the slope length.

Materials that have relatively free-flowing properties typically require a three-spoke array, while fluidizable materials that require maximum aeration should be arranged in a six-spoke array.

Packages 315 and 615 are available for larger silos that require more complete clean-out in the spring line area.
