This section documents all the different event identifiers that can be logged in the message tracking logs as messages make their way through the Routing Engine or MTA. See chapter 6 for details of the actual processing.

Message transfer-in

The MTA completed transfer of responsibility for a message from a gateway or X.400 link into the local MTA.

Probe transfer-in

The MTA completed transfer of responsibility for a probe from a gateway or X.400 link into the local MTA.

Report transfer-in

The MTA completed transfer of responsibility for a report from a gateway or X.400 link into the local MTA.

Message submission

A message was submitted by a local e-mail client (usually through the Store).

Probe submission

An X.400 probe was submitted by a local e-mail client (usually through the Store).

Probe transfer-out

The MTA completed transfer of responsibility for a probe from the local MTA to a gateway, X.400 link, or another MTA.

The MTA completed transfer of responsibility for a message from the local MTA to a gateway, X.400 link, or another MTA.
