Definition: AAF is the Advanced Authoring Format.

Description: The Advanced Authoring Format specification is controlled by the Advanced Authoring Format Association. Within the association, users and manufacturers develop open interchange solutions that solve real-world business problems and create new business opportunities for content creation, production, post-production, and rich media authoring.

AAF shares the same data model as MXF, although, for historical reasons, there is a difference in terminology for some of the sets and properties. A full description of the MXF data model and its relationship to AAF is given in Chapter 13.
