Most businesses (approximately 80 percent [1]) have mission and vision statements. Recognizing that it's hard to get somewhere if you don't know where you're going, companies now treat these as a standard part of corporate operations. In theory, vision, mission, and strategy are pretty straightforward: Each is a way station along the continuum of knowing where you want to end up and creating the means to get there. In practice, choosing a vision and consistently linking it to mission and strategy are challenging tasks never mind the further requirement of linking those to customer value*
