Computer Graphics for Architects, Engineers and Environmental Designers

"If we spoke a different language, we would perceive a somewhat different world."
Ludwig Wittgenstein
Effective use of digital technology is enhanced by familiarity with the terminology used to describe the many complex concepts that form the foundation of e-graphics and computer use in general. Unfortunately, this isn't a simple task. Computing is not only laden with technical jargon associated with hardware and software, but it also possesses a colorful vocabulary that has sprung up from the cross-disciplinary pop technoculture of the global computing community. In fact, many of the terms in this amorphous lexicon are coined by and for the enjoyment of the user community, which, in this case grades from geeks and ware weenies to the creative free spirits of the liberal arts world. The result is a dynamic and quirky tech-oriented pop vocabulary that marks this group as a rich and vibrant subculture unto itself.
