About the Author

Johan Zuidweg manages research projects at Telef nica I+D and teaches computer science and telecommunications courses at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. He has worked for almost 20 years in telecommunications research, development, and standardization, and has experienced the industry from all perspectives: the operator (KPN, the Netherlands, 1987 1994, and Telef nica, Spain, 2005 present), the manufacturer (Alcatel, France and Belgium, 1994 1999), and the IT systems integrator (Tecsidel, Spain, 2000 2004).
