Directions for Use

Now that you know how the organization compares to Lean World Class Status, where do you begin the process to improve? Which one or two projects should be started first, and where can you get information and support?

The Lean Development Reference Guide on the next page will point you in the right direction. Based on your overall assessment score, the matrix will identify the appropriate books from the Running Lean Series to support your Lean initiatives.

The overall assessment score on the Lean Assessment Summary Score Sheet Sample (Fig. 10) is 2.7. Cross reference 2.7 on the Lean Development Reference Guide and you will see that 2.7 falls into the 2.6-3.5 category (Results being felt at all levels). See Fig. 11 Sample Lean Development Reference Guide.

The recommendation for the example score is to reference four books from the Running Lean Series:

  1. BackStreet Lean (recommended for all Lean implementation projects)

  2. Caught in the Middle - Supervising Lean

  3. Performing at the Speed of Sight

  4. Creating Cells as Profit Centers

Make sure you have a clear understanding of each of the previous topics in the series. Regardless of the overall score, you may need to refresh your knowledge with previous books. Book titles and descriptions are found in the Appendix. To order...
