PBX Systems for IP Telephony

A request for proposal (RFP) is a customer document used in the PBX system purchase process. The document states the bidder ground rules for proposing a PBX system that satisfies the customer s communications needs and wants.
A PBX RFP includes sections on overall system requirements, port land traffic capacities, design issues, generic software features, terminals, applications support, and systems management. More than a listing of system design attributes and features, it also includes system installation and cutover milestones, terms and conditions for bidding and contract negotiations, and legal clauses to protect the customer.
The sample RFP was prepared by Siemens ICN, the leading global supplier of PBX systems. Although exhibiting some slight bias toward Siemens product capabilities, the document can be used as a framework to evaluate any supplier s enterprise voice communications systems.
