A metal fan manufacturer faced part alignment concerns when considering automating their sheet metal screw driving process. The Visumatic VLB-900 Locking Bit system was selected to overcome these ergonomic challenges. 
 
The #6 socket drive screw is automatically fed to the nosepiece tooling eliminating handling by the operator and dropped screws inside the squirrel cage assembly. Since the bit is locked and backs the screw, the operator can use the screw body itself to "ice-pick" the mating parts into position when alignment isn't ideal.
