IT Performance Management

In this chapter we addressed the complexity of managing an IT portfolio aligned with the ever changing business portfolio. The strategy and strategic alignment issues of business and IT were only briefly touched on by giving an overview of the major lines of thinking on strategy.
Strategy implementation starts with architecture (re-)design and implementation. A high level framework for strategic architecture planning and development has been introduced. This framework is used to help manage the content of an IT portfolio.
After that, a closer look was taken at three specific architectural approaches that were successfully used to improve alignment between business and IT. After that we returned to the IT performance management grid.
The content, management objectives, strategy impact, architecture impact and service provisioning impact on every row and column of the performance management grid have been discussed. By doing this we created a high level introduction to the use of the IT performance grid in managing both content and performance of IT.
This chapter ended addressing the IT performance management processes and the key roles that are involved in IT portfolio management.
