Chapter 15: Working with OSC Files

15.1 Overview

When starting an RIS installation, the client begins by pressing F12. That starts the PXE boot process, and at the end of that process, the RIS server transfers the first CIW screen to the client computer. That screen is called welcome.osc and is a standard screen installed at the RIS server installation. All OSC files are located on the RIS server in the folder called: RemoteInstall\OSChooser\language\, where language is used if the OSC files are in multiple languages. Each language must exist in a language folder beneath the OSChooser folder. In a standard RIS installation, only the English language is installed.

After the Welcome screen, some standard screens follow. These screens are specified in the standard OSC section. If an RIS installation fails, then an error OSC file is displayed. The error OSC files are described in section 15.6. It's possible to customize...
