Robert delights in creating products that people find useful and enjoyable, whether he s working with invisible bits (such as designing a Web application) or with very real bolts (such as restoring his Victorian-era home). Build stuff better. Robert frequently turns a critical eye to the process of design, and especially enjoys learning from and sharing ideas with similarly-inclined people.

Almost daily, Robert cringes as someone pushes the wrong button in his office building s elevator one of the slowest in the city and wishes he could simply press it once again to cancel the selection. He would also have appreciated a simple cancel mechanism last winter when his daughter discovered the panic button on his rental car s keychain at five o clock in the morning. What was the thinking behind these devices? How could they behave more appropriately? Robert puzzles at such questions almost constantly.
