System Verification: Proving the Design Solution Satisfies the Requirements

A project should seek to organize all verification implementation work under the management responsibility of a single person just as suggested for the planning work. The selection of this person is a function of how the enterprise is organized to some extent. Where the enterprise is organized as a matrix with knowledge-based functional departments and multiple programs organized about the product architecture into cross-functional teams, the program system or integration team should be made responsible for the overall verification process, its planning, documentation, and coordination. The person chosen to do this work should be from the test and evaluation functional department or skills base because that method of verification is the more complex and difficult to master from a management perspective of the four methods discussed in this book (test, analysis, demonstration, and examination). This person will be referred to as the system agent or coordinating agent for purposes of identificational, although we may choose to refer to him / her as a system technical agent or a system management agent, both of whom could be the same person, depending on the nature of the topic and assumed organizational structure.
This system agent must manage the overall test program through a series of test task team leaders and principal engineers responsible for each of the test tasks identified in the plan in accordance with the planned budget, schedule, and plan content. Some of these test tasks may be under the general responsibility of a...
