Now that you have configured and deployed your security policy to the PIX Firewalls on the outer boundary of your network with PIX Firewall Manager (protecting your network from the outside world) you need to ensure protection from people within your network from accessing confidential and restricted data or services. You have to manage your internal network security policy just as well as your external policy to ensure good security on your enterprise network.

This section will describe the use and features of the Access Control List Manager, which you can use to deploy and manage your internal network security policy.

ACL Manager Overview

CiscoWorks 2000 is a few applications bundled together to make up an entire suite for managing Cisco enterprise networks and devices. The products include solutions for managing local area networks (LAN) and for wide area networks (WAN) of your enterprise network. All the products fall into three categories (or solutions):

The LAN Management Solution This feature will support your local network and devices and includes Web-based applications for advanced management using an Internet browser.

The Routed WAN Management Solution This is used for your routed and multi-service wide area networks and provides traffic management, monitoring, and access control. (This is where ACL fits in.)

The Service Management Solution This is used to manage and monitor service-level agreements.
