Boucher, Robert J Born 12 July 1932 in Willimantic, Connecticut. Graduated from the University of Connecticut (1954) and Yale University (1955) in electrical engineering, then worked for Hughes Aircraft Company until 1973 before founding Astro Flight, Inc. Developed and flew the world's first solar-powered aircraft, the Sunrise I in 1974.

Cayley, Sir George Born 27 December 1773 in Yorkshire, England. Developed the principles and concept behind the modern airplane and flew the first unmanned, unpowered aircraft in 1804. Died 15 December 1857 at Brompton, Yorkshire, England.

Cody, Samuel See Cowdery, Samuel Franklin.

Cowdery, Samuel Franklin Born 1867 in Davenport, Iowa. Credited with developing and flying the first indigenously designed British airplane and perhaps the first British unmanned aircraft, a powered kite, in 1908. Died 7 August 1913 in the UK.

Curtiss, Glen Hammond Born 21 May 1878 in Hammondsport, New York. Designed and built the Speed Scout, adapted as the first powered full size unmanned aircraft to fly, the Curtiss Sperry Aerial Torpedo in 1918. Died 23 July 1930.

Denny, Reginald Leigh Born 20 November 1891 in Richmond, Surrey, England. Introduced radio-controlled airplanes to the public as a hobby and to the U.S. Army as target drones, his design of which led to the first use of unmanned aircraft in the reconnaissance role (U.S. Army's SD-1 Observer, 1955). Died 16 June 1967 in Richmond, Surrey, England.
