Chapter 3: Visual Studio.NET

3.1 What Is Visual Studio.NET?

Visual Studio.NET is a development environment that acts as the host for the range of Microsoft .NET languages such as Visual Basic, C++ and C#. The objective behind Visual Studio is to have a single interface and set of tools that work across any .NET language irrespective of the language s features or semantics. This type of development tool is often referred to as an Integrated Development Environment, or IDE (See Figure 3.1).
