Periodic Table and Element Properties

Astatine belongs to group VIIA of the periodic table. It occurs naturally as a result of Uranium and Thorium decay. Bismuth, when bombarded with alpha particles, produces Astatine isotopes, such as At-209 and At-211.
Astatine is a radioactive element. It is the heaviest of all halogens in the periodic table, and the rarest of all naturally occurring elements on earth.
