Berkelium

Berkelium belongs to the actinide series of the periodic table. It is a silvery metal that is synthesized artificially. Berkelium is obtained by bombarding americium with Helium ions in a cyclotron. Berkelium compounds are identified by X-ray diffraction techniques.
