Dr. Ib Arne Svendsen, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Ocean Engineering at the University of Delaware, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 19, 1937. He earned his M.Sc. degree in civil engineering in 1960 and his Ph.D. in wave mechanics in 1974, both at the Technical University of Denmark.
