Accelerating Process Improvement Using Agile Techniques

Once the process has been piloted, the Process Group should assess the effectiveness of the processes developed for the selected actions. At this point they can either approve or reject them. Depending upon the severity of the findings, they may be immediately improved and approved or improved and repiloted during the next iteration. As always, collect lessons learned for making later iterations easier, better, and even more agile.
The steps for putting a process on trial, illustrated in Figure 14-1, are as follows:
Evaluate the processes submitted by the PATs using the criteria they have selected.
Approve or disapprove the process as submitted for deployment to the organization.
If approved, deploy selected process(es) to the organization.
If disapproved, send the process back to the PAT to accomplish the resolution and repiloting as needed again.
Evaluate organization's readiness for a formal appraisal by conducting a progress mini-assessment. If the Process Improvement goals are not met, go into the Triage step. If goals are met, determine if a formal appraisal is needed. If goal is not a formal appraisal, evaluate readiness for continued Process Improvement through other methods rather than the APIM.
If not ready for formal appraisal or continued Process Improvement, evaluate whether there are more actions to be implemented in this iteration of the APIM Maturity Cycle.
If there are more actions in the queue for evaluation, assign PAT and go to resolution.
If there are no actions designated for this iteration of the APIM Maturity...
