Eaches or Pieces Order Fulfillment, Design, and Operations Handbook

The SKU transport concept that is used depends on how SKUs are sorted. With SKUs that are sorted in a pick area, the transport concept moves picked and sorted SKUs as individually sorted or complete COs from a pick area to a pack area where it is packed into a shipping carton.
In an operation in which mixed COs are picked and labeled, the transport concept moves mixed CO SKUs as a mixed group in totes or as loose SKUs on a belt conveyor travel path from the pick area to a sortation and pack area. In the sort and pack area, SKUs are sorted into a discreet location and packed into a shipping carton.
