An Introduction to Mixed-Signal IC Test and Measurement

8.8: SUMMARY

8.8 SUMMARY

This chapter provides a basic foundation for DSP-based mixed-signal testing, even though all the tests we have discussed so far are purely analog in nature. These same tests are performed on sampled channels, which may include DACs and ADCs. These channels require some slight differences in measurement definition. For example, we cannot calculate the gain of a DAC in volts per volt, because a DAC does not have a voltage input. Nevertheless, many of the measurement techniques are almost identical in nature to purely analog tests. In Chapter 9, "Sampled Channel Testing," we will continue developing DSP-based testing techniques as they apply to channels containing DACs, ADCs, switched capacitor filters, and other sampling circuits.
