RSM Simplified: Optimizing Processes using Response Surface Methods for Design of Experiments

A fully-function, but time-limited, version of a commercially available software package from Stat-Ease, Inc., called Design-Expert . This Windows-based program comes with companion files that provide tutorials on various designs from the very basics to sophisticated response surface methods. On the CD-ROM, you will find data ("dx7") and simulation ("sim") files associated with the tutorials.
Before getting started with the software, check www.statease.com/RSM-Simp.html for update patches. Add this path to the Favorites folder in your Internet web-browser. From this same website you may download the data for case studies and problems discussed throughout the book. The files are named so they may be easily cross-referenced with the book. For example "Fig 2-3 TVs versus life exp.dx7" refers to data needed for Figure 2-3 in Chapter 2. In some cases data is also provided in a format that can be opened with spreadsheet software.
You are encouraged to complete all software tutorials, especially those we recommend, and then try reproducing the results shown in the book. The Stat-Ease software offers far more detail in statistical outputs and many more graphics than can be included in this book. Don't be shy about going off in your own directions to really explore what can be done with RSM. You will find a great deal of information on program aspects and statistical background in the on-line hypertext help system built into the software.
Refer to the enclosed instructions for a step-by-step procedure for installing the software, the tutorials and data files. The tutorials come...
