Window Type

   Your choices are...
Architectural Shaped       Architectural-shaped windows are fixed windows in a variety of different shapes.
Awning       Awning windows are hinged at the top and open at the bottom, usually by a hand lever.
Bay/Bow       Bay windows are usually made from three windows, with a larger window in the middle and surrounded by smaller ones on the outside. These windows are placed at 30-or-45 degree angles.  Bow windows can include any number of windows as long as they make a gentle curve.
Casement       Casement windows open and close from the side, usually with a crank handle.
Double-Hung       Double hung windows are 2 windows with one on top and the other below it. Both windows slide up and down.
Single-Hung       Single hung windows are 2 windows with one on top and the other below it. Only one or the other is able to open.
Garden       Garden windows are multi-surface windows that extend outwards to achieve an internal area that is exposed to exterior sunlight.
Gliding       Gliding windows open by sliding horizontally over another window. These windows are also called sliding windows.
Hopper       Hopper windows are usually for basement applications. These windows tilt-in from the top when pulling on the handle.
Hurricane (C5)       Hurricane windows provide resistance from extremely high wind pressures without blowout or permanent deformation. These windows are rated C5 and are appropriate for some high-rise buildings, or for low-rise buildings where hurricanes or severe weather conditions may occur.
Jalousie       Jalousie windows have slits that overlap to allow for ventilation.  These windows are good for sun porch applications, but are not good for weather tight solutions.
Picture/Fixed       Picture windows are big and fill a room with light, usually in a square or rectangular shape. They are unable to open.
Stained Glass       Stained glass windows feature glass that has been colored by metallic salts added while it's being made. These windows often include designs in the stained glass. They are often used and associated with churches or religious aspects, but can be used in art displays and other decorative settings.
Storm       Storm windows are paned windows that are mounted on the exterior or interior of an existing window to add another layer of insulation from the outside elements.
Tilt-Turn       Tilt-turn windows are like three windows in one. They can be a fixed window, can open and close from the side, or they can tilt in from the top. It depends on where the handle position.
Underwater       Underwater windows are those designed to be installed below the water surface.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary window or skylight type.

Energy Rating
U-Factor       U-factor is the measure of the rate of heat loss through a window. The lower the U-factor, the greater a window's resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value.  U factor = 1/(R value).
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
SHGC       Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) measures how well a window blocks heat from sunlight. The lower this value the less solar heat is transmitted.
Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.

Frame Material

   Your choices are...
No Frame       No frame windows are put right into place, generally just one piece of glass without separators. They are usually used in offices.
Aluminum       The window frame material is made from aluminum. These frames are typically used on commercial projects due to strength and rigidity.
Aluminum-Clad Wood       Aluminum-clad wood window frames have interior wood frames with aluminum on the exterior.
Bronze-Clad Wood       Bronze-clad wood frames have interior wood frames, but with bronze on the exterior.
Composite       Frames made from composite materials have long term durability and are resistant to warping, fading, and water while being air tight.
Copper-Clad Wood       Copper-clad wood window frames that have interior wood frames, but with copper on the exterior.
Fiberglass       The frame material is made from fiberglass.
Vinyl       The frame material is made from vinyl materials, which are low maintenance and maintain high energy efficiency
Vinyl-Clad Wood       Vinyl-clad wood window frames have interior wood frames, but with vinyl on the exterior.
Wood       The frame material is made of wood.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary material type.

Features

   Your choices are...
Single Paned       Single paned windows are comprised of a single sheet of glass.
Double Paned       Dual glazing comprises two panes of glass with a sealed space between. This process reduces heat loss through windows, while improving insulation and reducing condensation.
Triple Paned       Dual glazing comprises three panes of glass with a sealed space between, providing greater sound insulation and energy savings.
Acrylic Glazing       Extruded acrylic sheet (aka Plexiglass, Lucite, Acrylite, Optix, Plexi) is an excellent glazing material that is unaffected by moisture, and offers a high strength-to-weight ratio. Acrylic offers high light transmittance and can be easily heat-formed without loss of optical clarity.
Argon/Krypton filled       Argon / krypton gas fills are an insulating glaze that improves the thermal performance of a window by reducing the transfer of heat between the inside and outside.
Bullet / Blast Resistant       Blast-resistant or safety glass can be for protective applications. These windows can be bulletproof; safety glass is used in automobiles so if it shatters, large pieces won't cause serious injury. It can also be very protective against breaking from incoming objects such as baseballs or other foreign objects.
Laminated       Laminating glazing allows visible light through the glass, while keeping out most of the infrared radiation.
Low E Glass       Low E glass is designed to reflect heat before it passes through the window. It is often designed to reflect UV light.
Reflective       Reflective glazing reflects, rather than absorbs, most of the infrared heat. It's made of thin layers of metals or metallic oxides on the surface of the glass.
Tinted       Tinted glazing absorbs some of the solar heat and blocks daylight. Tinting changes the color of the window and increases visual privacy.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary product feature.
