   NdFeB (Neodymium Iron Boron)       Neodymium iron boron, a rare earth magnet, is the most recent commercial addition to the family of modern magnet materials. Its general composition is Nd2Fe14B, often-abbreviated NdFeB.  At room temperatures, NdFeB magnets exhibit the highest properties of all magnet materials. 
   SmCo (Samarium Cobalt)       Samarium cobalt is manufactured in two compositions: Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17 - often referred to as the SmCo 1:5 or SmCo 2:17 types. 2:17 types, with higher Hci values, offer greater inherent stability than the 1:5 types. 
   Iron-Chromium-Cobalt       Iron-chromium-cobalt magnets offer the considerable advantage of being receptive to plastic deformation processing such as rolling and drawing.  They can be used for compact, complex shapes that are difficult or impossible to achieve with other types of materials.

Magnetic Properties
   Holding Force       The force the magnet is capable of holding under ideal conditions.  Conditions such as the size and shape of the parts, the surface conditions, motion, vibration, friction, holding angles, and machining forces will affect the holding force of the magnet and should be factored into the magnetic circuit design

   Maximum Magnetic Field       The strength, in gauss, of the magnetic field created by the magnet.

   Maximum Energy Product, BHmax       Also known as the magnet strength or grade.  The point on the demagnetization curve where the product of B and H is a maximum and the volume of magnet material required to project a given energy into its surroundings is a minimum. It is measured in mega gauss-oersteds, MGOe.

   Residual Induction, Br       A value of induction at the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force. The Br represents the maximum magnetic flux density output of this material without an external magnetic field.

   Coercive Force, Hc       The demagnetizing force, measured in oersteds, necessary to reduce observed induction, B to zero after the magnet has previously been brought to saturation.

   Intrinsic Coercive Force, Hci       The intrinsic ability of a material to resist demagnetization. Permanent magnets with high intrinsic coercive force are referred as "hard" permanent magnets, which usually is associated with high temperature stability.

   Machinable       The magnet can be machined to desired size and shape.  Magnets should be machined using diamond tools or soft grinding wheels, and in the unmagnetized state as far as possible.
