Magnet Materials | |||
Your choices are... | |||
NdFeB (Neodymium Iron Boron) | Neodymium iron boron, a rare earth magnet, is the most recent commercial addition to the family of modern magnet materials. Its general composition is Nd2Fe14B, often-abbreviated NdFeB. At room temperatures, NdFeB magnets exhibit the highest properties of all magnet materials.
SmCo (Samarium Cobalt) | Samarium cobalt is manufactured in two compositions: Sm1Co5 and Sm2Co17 - often referred to as the SmCo 1:5 or SmCo 2:17 types. 2:17 types, with higher Hci values, offer greater inherent stability than the 1:5 types.
Iron-Chromium-Cobalt | Iron-chromium-cobalt magnets offer the considerable advantage of being receptive to plastic deformation processing such as rolling and drawing. They can be used for compact, complex shapes that are difficult or impossible to achieve with other types of materials.
Other | Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary configuration.
Search Logic: | All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.

Geometry | |||
Your choices are... | |||
Block / Bar | Block / bar magnets of rectangular or square shape. Dimensions for length, width, and thickness are specified.
Flexible Strip / Sheet | Flexible magnetic material is easily cut, punched, machined and slit to almost any specification. Flexible magnetic strip may also be available with adhesive backing. These magnets are specified by thickness and width.
Sheet or Slab | Bulk magnet materials supplied in sheet or slab, which the user manufactures into individual magnets.
Rod | Rod magnets (or cylindrical bars) are long and round. Dimensions specified are diameter and length.
Powder | The magnet material is supplied in powdered form for manufacturing.
Horseshoe / U-shape | Horseshoe magnets are specified with width and length (or diameter for round horseshoe magnets), height, and gap. U-shaped magnets are specified by width and length (or diameter for round U-shaped magnets), and height.
Button / Pot | Button magnets are circular shaped horseshoe magnets that are easy to mount. They are specified by diameter, height, slot size, and hole diameter. Pot magnets are cylindrical shaped magnets with a tapped hole for securing. The dimensions specified are diameter, height, and thread size.
Round / Ring / Disc | Ring magnets are round, flat, and have an internal bore. Dimensions normally specified are outside diameter, inside diameter, and thickness. Disc magnets are round, flat, and do not have an internal bore. Dimensions specified are diameter and thickness.
Sphere / Bead | The magnet is a sphere or bead and is specified by radius or diameter.
Arc Segment | Arc segment magnets are often used in motors. They are specified by outside radius, inside radius, length, width, and height.
Rotor / Poles | Rotors look like gears and have an even number of poles spaced equally around the magnet. Pole magnets are often referred to as holding magnets, and are specified as magnetic assemblies. Dimensions specified include outside diameter, inside diameter, thickness, width of poles, and width of space between poles.
Other | Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary configuration.
Search Logic: | All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.

Holding Force | The force the magnet is capable of holding under ideal conditions. Conditions such as the size and shape of the parts, the surface conditions, motion, vibration, friction, holding angles, and machining forces will affect the holding force of the magnet and should be factored into the magnetic circuit design
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
![]() | |||
Maximum Magnetic Field | The strength, in gauss, of the magnetic field created by the magnet.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
![]() | |||
Maximum Energy Product, BHmax | Also known as the magnet strength or grade. The point on the demagnetization curve where the product of B and H is a maximum and the volume of magnet material required to project a given energy into its surroundings is a minimum. It is measured in mega gauss-oersteds, MGOe.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
![]() | |||
Residual Induction, Br | A value of induction at the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force. The Br represents the maximum magnetic flux density output of this material without an external magnetic field.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
![]() | |||
Coercive Force, Hc | The demagnetizing force, measured in oersteds, necessary to reduce observed induction, B to zero after the magnet has previously been brought to saturation.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
![]() | |||
Intrinsic Coercive Force, Hci | The intrinsic ability of a material to resist demagnetization. Its value is measured in oersteds and corresponds to zero intrinsic induction in the material after saturation. Permanent magnets with high intrinsic coercive force are referred as "hard" permanent magnets, which usually is associated with high temperature stability.
Search Logic: | User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
