Radio Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)

Description

Radio Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) are microprocessor-based devices designed for the remote monitoring and control of field devices. They are capable of collecting data automatically and interfacing with distributed control systems and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. These units serve as slave units to supervisory controllers, transferring data to a controller unit on command and often include integral software, data logging capabilities, a real-time clock, and a battery backup.

Working Principle
