Working Principle

Advantages over other Worms and Worm Gears

Limitations

Worm gears have some limitations, including lower mechanical efficiency compared to other gear types. They are also heavier, more expensive, and can be difficult to mount. The sliding action that provides smooth operation also results in higher friction, which can lead to increased wear and reduced efficiency.

When considering the use of worm gears, it is important to account for initial costs, which can be higher due to the complexity of the design and materials used.
