Pro Tools 5.1 for Music Production: Recording, Editing, and Mixing

Recording now that s a big subject. I don t know if you are going to be recording a set of bagpipes, a rock band, a rap track or a symphony orchestra. What I do know is that Pro Tools can handle all of these. And you may even need to work with all of these at some time or other during your career. Many of you will already be working with Pro Tools while others will be new to the system. I will start out by discussing digital audio recording in general before highlighting various areas such as monitoring, destructive recording, loop recording and the concept of voices in Pro Tools offering tips and notes along the way to draw your attention to particular aspects. Then we will look at how to import audio from a CD a feature you will use time and time again. As an introduction to recording for anyone new to Pro Tools, I will describe how I went about recording a very basic project for a guitarist called Hugh Burns. Hugh is a busy session player who has been working with George Michael and also makes recordings in his own right.
