Simply having management sign off on the adjustment is not enough. Analysis of the error trends needs to be documented and distributed. The best way to demonstrate the trend is with a quadrant reporting format. This quadrant reporting format is the preferred form for reporting at the weekly performance review, a meeting held in all Class A ERP organizations to drive change and continuous improvement (see the example in Figure 9-2).
The weekly performance review meeting might best be held on Tuesday afternoon to review the performance of the preceding week. Each process owner reports the performance and actions driven from this process to the rest of the operations management staff. Inventory accuracy is just one of the measurements reported. Other metrics normally reported in this format are:
Schedule adherence
Schedule stability
Bill of material accuracy
Routing record accuracy
Item master accuracy
Procurement process accuracy
Shop floor accuracy
First-time quality
Customer service
The weekly performance review process is an integral part of a robust management system that allows management to be involved in the follow- up of process control on a regular and predictable schedule. It helps establish accountability for process ownership. Without it, process ownership has little or no real meaning to the organization and will not be effective.
