Configuring Citrix MetaFrame for Windows 2000 Terminal Services

Administrators can successfully create a positive user experience by configuring session parameters on the MetaFrame server. One measure of the success of a Citrix MetaFrame deployment is how satisfied the end users are with the ease of use of the applications deployed on it. If they are able to use applications in just the way that they expected, with fast performance and full functionality, then the deployment is considered successful from their point of view. The result, a reduced need for administrative support, makes the deployment a success from the administrators point of view.
Users are less concerned with how the application reaches their desktop than they are with whether it works the way they need it to.
Many large companies integrate MetaFrame as member servers into their Windows 2000 Active Directory and let the standard Windows 2000 domain controllers handle the Domain Name Service (DNS), replication, and Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) functions. While MetaFrame will function running on Windows 2000 in a UNIX DNS and DHCP environment, there is less integration effort, more compatibility, and fewer cross-platform security issues by providing those services on dedicated Windows 2000 domain controllers. Windows 2000 DNS and DHCP servers provide new features and functionality, such as peering DNS servers and dynamic DNS thru DHCP, among many others that place them ahead of most UNIX-based services in the technology curve. Along with the increased and more granular security controls offered, which some say rival...
