Configuring Citrix MetaFrame for Windows 2000 Terminal Services

The appsrv.INI file contains the user settings which define application servers and other preferences. Build 4.20.715 and later of the client contain information regarding only Custom ICA connections. For any earlier versions (any platform), this file contains information for all entries in the Remote Application Manager.
There are three main sections, WFClient, Application Servers, and Connection. They will be found inside square brackets within the file, as follows: [WFClient], [Application Servers], [Connection]. WFClient contains general settings that apply to all ICA connections configured from the client. Application Servers contains the enumeration of entries for connection to servers or published applications. For Connection, every entry that is configured will have a section dedicated to it that specifies all of its own specific parameters. In other words, a published application of Wordpad will have its own section [Wordpad].
| Note | On Windows 2000 client machines, many settings in the appsrv.INI have been moved to a different file. Connections and setting preferences are now stored on a per-user basis similar to the way Internet Explorer remembers each user s settings. When a user makes new connections, a copy of the appsrv.INI, wfclient.INI, and pn.INI are copied to a Citrix subdirectory under his or her personal home directory (by default C: \Documents and Settings\username.domainname\Application Data\ ICAClient). The settings in these files would take precedence over the generic client settings. |
Here is a sample appsrv.INI file. Note that the numbers in front of each line are added for reference purposes only.
